New funding for digital projects for manufacturers

the art labIn this guest post, Rick Lees, the Managing Director of digital agency, and manufacturing specialists, The Artlab shares information about some of the funding schemes open to North West manufacturers.

Funding helps manufacturers invest in opportunity generating digital projects at a reduced cost.

Unfortunately, getting access to some of these funding schemes can be difficult. Money comes from a mish-mash of different funding providers working across different regions and sectors.

At the moment, I think there are three funding schemes that are particularly good for manufacturers in the North West.

1. Manufacturing Growth Fund

This broad scheme covers manufacturing businesses from Carlisle to Crewe. The fund is really well managed and if you meet the criteria then you should have no problem getting your application approved.

Delivered through the Business Growth Hub in Greater Manchester, the Manufacturing Growth Fund offers grant funding towards specific projects that have the potential to create new jobs.

What’s on offer: 30% grant funding towards projects totalling between £8,000 and £13,000.

Who can access it: SME manufacturers in the North West.

What types of project: Projects that drive job creation, help launch new products or improve productivity.

2. 12-hour Consultancy Package

This scheme, available to B2B businesses in Cheshire and Warrington provides for 12 hours of specialist consultancy on anything to do with marketing.

With some of the customers we have led through this project, we have provided consultancy on things like website strategy, competitor analysis, technical and creative SEO optimisation and data tracking. It has the potential to be a fantastic starting place to build the foundations to attract new customers online.

What’s on offer: 12 hours of free consultancy with an expert.

Who can access it: SME businesses in Cheshire and Warrington.

What types of project: Consultancy on anything to do with marketing – including SEO, website strategy, social media and content marketing.

3. Manufacturing Growth Programme

This scheme, which is broadly available across the North West, provides 35% funding to projects that are around £3,000 in value.

Again, the range of projects that can be delivered through this scheme are diverse. The money can be used for a large range of business activities geared towards boosting growth.

What’s on offer: 35% funding for projects of around £3,000.

Who can access it: Manufacuring businesses, based primarily south of Manchester.

What types of project: Business activities geared towards increasing growth.

If you have any further questions about how to access funding then I would be happy to answer them for you.

Alternatively, you can visit the funding page on our website or come along to one of the free workshops I will be delivering in Cheshire this September.
